My horse is a 15.3 French Trotter crossed with an appaloosa, he is 10 years old. When in work he is very keen to please, he is not the brightest spark but tries his hardest and his flatwork is coming along nicely. He jumps like a stag, happily taking a 5ft electric fence from a slow trot! He loves his jumping and hacking and will be a nice allrounder, he has only bucked once since living with us and we attributed that to back/stifle pain which has now been resolved. He has never misbehaved, purely showing his excitement by being on his toes a little. My boy had an operation on a ligament in his stifle last February, he was in the middle of his rehabilitation, slowly working his way back to fitness when I fell pregnant and so he has to start again. Though he is currently ridden, it is mainly at a walk and he wont be back in full work for at least another 6 months to a year, allowing plenty of time to develop a bond with a new rider. The person I am looking for will share my love and dedication for this amazing horse and want to take the time and effort to finish his rehabilitation with me and going forward be able to enjoy the benefits of this lovely boy. I need someone reliable, confident (he can sometimes be a turd on the ground), honest and sensible. Someone who is not afraid to offer advice but doesnt take offence when its not taken or even worse, do it their way anyway. I have consulted with experts the whole way through this process, I dont need a know-it-all messing it up!! He would be suited to someone who would like to compete in the future but wants to build a relationship with the horse first. He currently has a weight limit of 11 stone. My boy is no angel, since his operation and the inevitable box rest he has become somewhat of a handful, he has started biting and when irritated can threaten to kick (he hasnt hit target yet so I believe it is just a threat) however before that he was very easy to manage, very docile and loving, able to be led by my 7 year old. He has started to return to the lovely animal he was before the restrictions messed with his head but just needs patience to get there. I am looking for a financial contribution of ?50 per month for my boy. Importantly, where my horses are kept (between Melksham & Lacock) we currently have no facilities. The field can get muddy in the winter and causes a challenge for the most dedicated of riders, however this will not be the case forever, we have plans for stables and an all-weather school to be in place hopefully before this coming winter.
